OBLF

In this project, I was asked to design textbooks for children of varying age groups by One Billion Literates Foundation. OBLF is an NGO that strives to provide education to underprivileged children. I was commissioned to design English Language textbooks for 2 different levels. Each level had a teacher guidebook with activity and lesson administration instructions and the activity shown alongside for their reference. The levels also had 2 student work books with the activities for the students to complete. The overall age group was 5-7 years old.

For this project, I worked in a team with another designer who was the project leader. The general colours, typography, and the basic layout frame were decided by her, but I was given enough creative space to work within the broader framework and design as I saw fit. I completed all the books to the satisfaction of the client in very tight deadlines. This project, undertaken during the pandemic, gave me the opportunity to learn communication in a large team. While I did not have to directly communicate with the client or illustrators, I still had to make copious notations of errors, keep records of illustrations, negotiate deadlines with the client and overall help the lead designer manage the project.
